i met bill 'spaceman' lee not too long ago and got him to autograph his book. he was really great; he and jim boulton gave a talk about the state of baseball-great stuff.

Hey, thanks for this. It's perfect hearing Zevon's voice on a day like today, gray and drizzly with a whole week of pointless work ahead.

And the picture you chose was a great touch!

bill lee tells a great story about his playing days. apparently he got pretty lit up (drink, drugs, i can't remember) and passed out in hotel elevator. actually, in the door of the hotel elevator. he awoke some time later to find the doors opening and closing on him again and again. that's not my favorite ballplayer story -- i have a dirty one that has no place on a lady's blog. i'll put it on mine.

DANNY: One and the same. Bill Lee is so cool ... and, well, do we have to note that Warren was, too?

M: Have you met everyone by now? If you tell me you've met Peter Buck, I'm gonna scream.

BUBS: It's rainy and drizzly here, too, which is why the song was fitting today. But, in Coffeyland, every day is a good day for some Zevon.

SCHMECKMAN: My kind of ballplayer. Thank you for respecting the sanctity of a lady's comment box. (And I love the story on your blog, BTW.)
