The Perfect Sunday

I woke up yesterday to a surprise of rain. I love rainy Sundays … being awakened by the splattering on the roof ... watching drop slither down the window … the rain painting the yard a deeper green ... letting its laziness soak the bones. No more energy expended than to pad down the hall, make a strong cup of coffee, curl my pajama’ed bottom under a blanket, and listen to the drops before CBS Sunday Morning began. The rain-induced sloth relaxed me for the first time in weeks.

In the afternoon, after a nap with the cats, we were treated to one of the best parts of a Georgia winter: a surprise of sunny and seventy. The cats and I dashed out to spend our first afternoon on our new deck.

The view above. Yes, the sky was that blue.

Otto explores the deck …

… while Maggie chills and checks out the scenery.

A book, a glass of lemonade, birds flitting about … and we three were happy as clams.
Does anyone know why clams are so damn happy anyway?

Yay, pet pictures! Thanks for sharing the happiness. (Except for the Haahnster part. What a heel.) :)

Yahoo! People Search yielded no number. So, I dialed both (404) HEY-BETH and (404) YOU-RULE to no avail...

What can I say? I figured between the swooning and the unpacking, you'd be far too busy. I'm much better in blog than in person, anyway.

Otto rocks. I would totally have to woogie him if I met him.

If you go, get me some onion rings and a shake please? Shame on Haahnster. I'm much better as a fake person too but this is Beth!

KFLUFF: Aren't they cute li'l furries?

HAAHNSTER: I can always stop mid-swoon for the Haahnster And, um, I have only a cell phone, so searching wouldn't work, so sorry about that. Maybe we'll see you on your way out; you must have a hotdog at Manuel's or a fish taco at La Fonda.

LULU: Otto does rock; he has a nose like a lion.

TANYA ESPANYA: The back of my place is wonderful -- quiet, filled with trees -- and yet I'm just 1.5 miles from the cool part of town.

DALE: Thank you, sir!

Grant: Yes, I suppose I can. But, I probably won't. Then again, I might. Well, I really shouldn't. Oh, OK. I will.

What adorable cats -- and for a second there, I thought Otto was an oddly stripe raccoon.

Yes, I've heard that there are such things as 70-degree days, and sunny weather...

I am not convinced.

Nice deck, though

That's a beautiful view out the back there! It reminds me of the back of my parents' place. I've mentioned before that they live up in the Smokies, not all that far from you.

Congrats on the new amor!

GRANT MILLER: Yes, he can ... and yet I still love the virtual boy.

BRAT: The deck is nearly one story above the ground — low enough to interest them, just high enough to discourage the actual jump. It doesn't have the privacy of the old deck, but it's much larger and there aren't people around.

HAAHNSTER: You gave in too easily.

THIRD WORST POET: Otto cried when I told him you thought he looked like a raccoon. He's a rather vain Maine coon.

BUBS: Yes, it's true ... but I'd like at least one snow this year ... so I guess there's a trade-off.

KAREN: Aren't they? And spoiled rotten, as they deserve to be.

JOHNNY YEN: What's great is, I'm 1.5 miles from the downtown area of my little city — a square filled with funky shops and great restaurants.

MELLOWLEE: I am awesome, hear me roar.

What does <3 mean? Anyway, wasn't Sunday just great! Open the windows, freshen the house, yes it was great. Boo H! Beth could've showed you some great eating establishments!

Love those tall trees and the deck. Looks like a great place to chill with the cats and insert pins in your Haanster doll.
