My Boys Are Hall of Fame-bound!
From REMHQ.com:
Billboard.com reports that R.E.M, Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the Ronettes, and Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12 at New York's Waldorf-Astoria. The five to be inducted were selected from a group of nine nominees. To be eligible for induction, this year's class had to release their first single no later than 1981. R.E.M. released "Radio Free Europe" b/w "Sitting Still" on Hib-Tone Records in July 1981.
Congratulations go out to Peter, Bill, Mike, Michael, and Bertis from everyone here at remhq.com!

Anybody want to loan me $2,500 for a ticket to the show?

"Broken glass . . . everywhere." No love for Grandmaster Flash? Ha aha ah
The R&RHoF is sooo slow. REM has been in your Hall of Fame ever since you gave your first waahooo. You do waahooo don’t you? Thought so!
No, but if you come to New York I'll stalk them outside the Waldorf with you.
It was only a matter of time. Good on them. You and CP can hide in the flowers at the Waldorf.
Okay, I know I have asked you this before, but is this the Patti Smith that is married to Johnny Mac?
Shut up! They cost that much?
Funny, everytime you put up these old pictures, I look for people I might know!
Moving? I thought you owned your house. Something going on we don't know about?
Awesome! I'm so excited they've made it in.
How exciting!
$2500? I'll think about it. HMM.
Congratulations to Berry-Buck-Coffey-Mills-Stipe.
JEREMY: Actually, I'm thrilled about Grandmaster Flash getting in there! Can't wait for the duet with Patti Smith.
COFFEYPOT: I'm a Coffey. Of course I waahooooooooooooooo.
COASTER PUNCHMAN: I would love to Waldorf it with you! We'll be cocktailing, right?
DALE: Don't you want to join CP and me in the Waldorf flowers?
HOLLY: No, this Patti Smith is the punk one, the one who had a wild and tumultous affair with Sam Shepard ... who was Robert Mapplethorpe's dear friend and roommate ... who married into MC5 and spent several years as a housewife before coming back and kicking ass. You'll know "Because the Night," which she co-wrote with Bruce Springsteen and recorded in the mid-1970s. McEnroe's wife was in Scandal.
OLD LADY: Shut up -- yes, they do, or I'd be there instead of in the Waldorf flowers with Coaster Punchman. (And I scanned the crowd in the photo, too.)
NYCD/AKA SUE: I'm so thrilled. And welcome!
KAREN: I'm buying lottery tickets all week long ... because God will not deny me this moment.
GRANT MILLER: Thank you, sir! We're so proud.
I thought of you when I heard the news. Was there ever any doubt?
REM certainly deserves to be there, but really what's been the point of following the band over the last 10 years or so? I'll just stick with their first few records and call it a day.
With me the cocktails never stop. (Does that make me a drunk?) Let me know if you come up.
I think Bill V is just lucky you've been distracted lately. Otherwise, I do believe a cyber ass-whuppin' would've taken place!!!
