Carried Away
My life was filled with the giggliest of pinks tonight as a quad of us (natch) went to the midnight showing of Sex and the City. We single types with an inclination toward the girlie lived and loved the series during the HBO years, and I couldn’t wait to catch up with my four favorite faux friends.
I laughed.
I cried.
I giggled.
I sniffled.
I swooned.
I shimmied.
I objectified the men, and I lusted after Miranda’s baubles.
And.
I get to see it again on Saturday.

OMG I think I just grew a vagina reading this.
Yea, great...........
I get to "host" a party tonight at my house for 20 chicks all dressin' up and a-goin' to see the late showing of this movie.
I bought a case, yes, a case of vodka for cosmo's and apparently I have to walk around without a shirt on with a sign on my crotch that says "Mr. Big".
Yea, I'll be glad when this is over...........
And I'm praying just to survive the appetizer trays.
You're such a girl.
What the hell is that on her chest?
I'm going on Saturday night! And just to be super New Yorky, we're going out to this Vietnamese place afterwards that is celebrating the fact that they're going "24/7" and we're going to have trendy food at 1 am for free! Yay!
Beth!!!! I can't wait to see it. I'll probably go with my 19 year old daughter and her friend of the same age. Great girls to see it with.
Those four...they're my favorite material girls!
I absolutely cannot wait to see it!
Proving once again the place to be is NYC...
The Spousal Unit was quite perplexed that the local paper was full of nothing but Sex and the City the last few days. He figured the girls themselves were coming to town.
I went to a dance club in Cleveland last Saturday night and they were handing out free mojitos with a pink cozy to endorse the movie.
I'm not too proud to accept a free drink from a stranger.
Doc
Best post title ever, Beth! I'm glad you enjoyed it; I was a bit dismayed when I saw the NY Times review---they savaged the movie. You've given me a spot of hope that it's worth seeing!
Bethy, Sex and the City was one of my favorite shows on television. Please e-stalk me and give me all the dish. It sounds flawless. I do like spoilers.
ps: Love filegod's comment, "I think I just grew a vagina".
I loved it - I posted about it too.
Yours has fewer words and is more meaningful though!
well the line down 3rd avenue at the 11th st theatre was 90% female......
Came back to read the comments. Keith Kennedy's comment made me laugh out loud!
I knew you would love Miranda's jewelry! I thought of you when I was admiring them! Loved the girls, loved the baubles, especially loved the clothes, and I wish I was marrying Big.
Saw it yesterday with a "woman friend," and the audience cheered at the end. When was the last time that happened? (I think, according to my father, when mostly the men cheered to Death Wish, back in the 70s. Evil!)
I thought Samantha comes off as the strongest character on the big screen ;->
You did the right thing. For you.
The only way I can take SITC seriously is by viewing those girls as gay male stereotypes. Darren Star is openly gay and the show is only vaguely based on Bushnell's column.
Da goils are gay men. It's much better that way.
MTG has made "arrangements" for us to see this tomorrow. I shutter that the reviews mentions no explosions or giant shiny things. There had better be some boobage.
still haven't seen this yet but I am quite looking forward to it...
So this doesn't suck, huh?
Hello gorgeous - funny you should mention SITC. Poor George works in Chelsea (surrounded by lots of hipsters, which he hates) and the other day he was complaining about all these "'Sex in the City' bitches" who get in his way on the sidewalk. He's referring to Manhattan's ubiquitous fashionable skinny girls who walk around in small groups acting like their sh*t doesn't smell. Although it was crusty of him to say so, I still laughed pretty hard.
wooooo, we were just talking about this a few minutes ago at work. A co-worker went to see it on Saturday and loved it! Maybe I will go sometime this week!
I second CP's comment.
So, guess what? The free food didn't pan out. Some dude at the place told us that supposedly "the entire staff quit" on the same night. Then there was a New York Mag story about it with a different spin.
Today when I called a friend, she was waiting in line (with another female friend) to see the movie.
Maybe I need to give up my girl card, 'cause I never got into the show.
(glad you enjoyed it though)
