The Day the Music Died

Sadly, kids, there will be no Mix Tape this Friday. MyDataBus.com — that wonderful site where I store and link the great tunes we share here on Fridays — for some reason has "temporarily" disabled file uploading. Which means I couldn't upload any of the great dance tunes planned for today. If file uploading is enabled sometime today, I'll get that post up so you can get your dance down. If not, check back next Friday for another brilliant mix.
That title's a bit over the top, I know ... but I'm a bit of an
over-the-top girl. And I hate letting you down.
Question: What site do you use to upload files to link on your blogs?

I still love you, Beth! With or without MP3's. In spite of whatever you may think.

Hey Beth, I noticed the same thing happen when I was trying to use mydatabus.com when putting together the individual song downloads for my latest Green Monkey Mix.

I had seen Grant Miller use mediafire.com, so I gave that a try -- so far, so good. It's a little more of a pain in the ass to use than mydatabus.com, because you can only browse and attach one file at a time (rather than select a whole bunch in a fell swoop), but it gets the job done.

You can also use Badongo.com to host individual songs, though I use it primarily to host zipfiles of songs in my mixes (by participant).

There's still options out there (for the moment, at least).

Bummer, Beth.

I'd recommend your faithful readers go to Rolling Stone magazine's website and listen to the MP3 of "Ordinary People," the previously unreleased Neil Young song due to be released mid-October.

Just over 18 minutes of electric guitar bliss.

OTT works well for me when writing post heads. Drags 'em in.

Hope you get your music things working again

Mydatabus, which I stole from you, has been like that for the last week. Don't hold your breath it will change anytime soon.

I checked several host sites last week and found mediafire to be the least intrusive and annoying.

Although it's not perfect - downloaders have to go to the mediafire site and click on the songs a second time to get them as opposed to staying in one place and letting the download begin.

I think it's my fault, Beth, I think I broke mydatabus. Right after I upgraded to a paid account, it went down. Must have been the shock.

I'm looking for another site as well.

Ha ha ha about Barbara's comment! Maybe you are a mutant of my ilk, for my superpowers involve rendering electronic devices & equipment useless through the power of my attitude problem.

While I miss the mix tape, it gives me time to catch up on the songs I have yet to download or listen to from your blog and the Green Monkey Music Project.

I was just going to do a little databus uploading myself but now I see there's no point. Argh. Maybe we should follow Mr. Miller's lead.

I'll just dance to the sounds of silence.

I've never used any program to upload song files to my blog, but I should probably start doing that.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Sorry for whining, but I ... Waaaaaaaaaaaa! Sniff. Boo. (hitting myself upside the head) I'm okay now.

It's okay Beth. It's not your fault, it's Barbara Bruederlin's fault and her bad check.

Sad! No worries, though -- good luck finding a solution.

I certainly hope it's temporary. I've found we have similar taste in music -- but you happen to have a much bigger catalog of names and albums. And I love listening to great new music.

EVIL GENIUS: How un-Evil of you! MyDataBus is back … so look for a mix tape this Friday.

SPLOTCHY: My problem is, a lot of those are blocked by my corporate firewall, and I upload a lot of tunes while working very, very hard. I’m praying the MyDataBus debacle was just a glitch, and it’s back for good.

HAAHNSTER: It’s definitely electric guitar bliss.

GIFTED TYPIST: Do you have a URL for OTT?

GRANT MILLER: Mediafire is one of the sites blocked by my corporate firewall. IT weenies.

BARBARA: I tried to upgrade to a paid account, but nothing happened. Maybe I scared the site.

MOXIE: You have to come back with tune reviews, Moxie!

DALE: It’s back, in case you don’t want to be a Grant Millerite.

BECKEYE: You should! WTIL: Tilbrook all the time!

ZED: Barbara’s check must have finally cleared; uploading is back!

ERICK DONALD FRANCE: It was such a good mix tape, too. But you’ll get it this Friday!

THIRD WORST POET: So glad you’re enjoying the songs! It’s nice to have someone else with impeccable musical taste around.

Honey, you have an evolved sense of drama. It's a gift or as the zealies say, it's a blessing. Or is that only applicable with spawn?
